Photobacks Control 5.2

Troubleshooting

Rare Issues and Resolutions:

Please see the following article about the new M1 chip on Mac and Photoshop:

  1. The following article explains the situation and possible resolutions:
  2. If the resolution above is not viable for you, you can always run Photobacks Control from your Actions Panel in Button Mode as noted in the Step 2 above — watch the video for “Run Photobacks Control from Actions Panel – CC option, CS2 – CS6”

To resolve this issue:

  1. First try closing all open documents in Photoshop.
  2. Then, drag and drop the installer.jsx file into the Photoshop workspace again.

If you still do not get the “Successfully installed” message, make sure you have “unzipped” or extracted the downloaded files from Photobacks in your Downloads folder. Do not move the downloaded folder or files inside before install. Then:

  1. In Photoshop, with no images open — from the top menu, go to:
    File > Scripts > Browse…
  2. Find the “installer.jsx” file again in your Photobacks Control download — select it and click Load.
  3. A “Successfully installed” message should appear.
  4. Restart Photoshop.
  5. If you don’t see the Photobacks Control panel open yet — from the top menu, go to:
Window > Extensions (legacy) > Photobacks Control 5

To resolve this issue on Mac:

  1. Quit Photoshop.
  2. Open the Mac Finder application.
  3. From the top menu, go to:
    Go > Library
(If you do not see “Library” listed under the Go menu, hold down Option as you click the Go menu to reveal the “Library” option under Go.)
  4. From inside your Library folder, navigate to:
    Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions
  5. Inside the extensions folder, delete all folders titled “PhotobacksControlCC” or with Photobacks Control in the title, being careful NOT to delete any other folders.
  6. Go back to your Downloads folder and delete any Photobacks Control download folders/files (even if you downloaded the most recent version, still delete it).
  7. Open the Safari web browser.
  8. Go to your My Photobacks account and login, at: www.photobacks.com/myphotobacks
  9. Under Quick Start Guide, click Step 2 – Get Control.
  10. On the page that opens, click Download Install Files.
  11. The install files will download and should extract into a “normal” folder automatically in your Downloads folder. Do NOT move or open these files before the next steps!
  12. Open Photoshop.
  13. From the top menu, go to:
    File > Scripts > Browse…
  14. Navigate to your Downloads folder and open the Photobacks Control 5 Install Files folder you just downloaded… Inside, find and open the CC (Creative Cloud) folder. Inside, select the “installer.jsx” file and click Load.
  15. A “Successfully installed” message should appear.
  16. Restart Photoshop.
  17. If you do not see the Photobacks Control panel open yet — from the top menu, go to:
Window > Extensions (legacy) > Photobacks Control 5
