What are Digital Backdrops?
Digital backdrops are images that can be used as the backgrounds in your photos. Whether you're a professional photographer, shooting in a studio against a white background or a chromakey, or an amateur taking everyday photos, you can swap out the backgrounds with digital backdrops and give your photos an impressive, new and professional look. There's no need to buy expensive muslin backdrops or scenery for your studio, or travel long distances to find the perfect location. With Photobacks digital backdrops, you've got thousands of backgrounds at your disposal, including amazing graphic designs for every occasion, beautiful studio replications, outstanding scenics, and much more!

How does it work?
Using the appropriate photo/graphics editing software, such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, along with your digital photos (or scanned photos) on your computer, you basically erase the backgrounds of your photos and replace them with a digital backdrop. See our Tutorials section for more information.

What software do I need to use digital backdrops?
In short, we recommend any version of Photoshop by Adobe or Paint Shop Pro by Corel/Jasc. Fore more details, please see our Tips section, under Picking a Software.

Can I use any photo with digital backdrops, or do I need a green or blue screen (chromakey)?
You do not need to use a color screen or chromakey in order to use digital backdrops. They will work with any photo! Many professional photographers are already set up with chromakeys or white backgrounds in their studios, so replacing those backgrounds in a photo with a digital backdrop can be quite easy. Please see our Tutorials section for step-by-step instructions on how to work with any photo, with or without a chromakey.

If I do use a chromakey, what's the best color to use?
We recommend white, green, blue, or black. For more details, please see our Tips section,
under Using a Chromakey.

Is it hard to work with digital backdrops?
When you first start, you may find the process a bit challenging, especially if you're not familiar with your photo/graphics editing software. However, with a little practice (and it won't take long), you will be making beautiful photo creations. The more and more you work with digital backdrops, the easier it will be, and the better your photos will look. Take your time and enjoy the process. Follow our Tutorials for step-by-step instructions, and if you have any questions, please contact us. For a sample of other photographers' work with digital backdrops, please see our Users Gallery. When you feel you're ready, send us your work to post as well!

Can I use .jpg file photos?
Yes. Basically, you'll open up your photo in your photo editing software along with our digital backdrops. Then, you'll be able to work with any file format and save your images in any file format you wish, without a problem. Our digital backdrops are in the .tif file format because it allows us to give you the highest quality images possible, with no quality loss upon saving or transfer to you. However, you can save your work along with our digital backdrops in any file format you choose. For more details on saving your images, please see our Tips section, under Saving Your Work.
